2018 is your year! You’re going to do it all and see EVERYTHING!!! Well, how about starting closer to home? Ireland is outstandingly beautiful and we often forget what lies on our doorstep. Keep reading because we have your top 5 places to visit in Ireland in 2018 (plus they wont break the bank).

1. The Ring of Kerry

If you’re searching for breathtaking scenery and beautiful Irish villages and towns then this is the route for you. History oozes out of the Ring of Kerry and as you travel along you can see old ruins of houses, castles and churches like no place else in the world. Why not take a walk or cycle to experience the fabulous coastline and when hunger strikes stop for some culinary delights in a village or town. Sound good? See you there!

2. The Cliffs of Moher

Experience five miles of superb coastline and naturally wild cliffs. Watch the birds and smell the sea and lose yourself in a truly beautiful place. On a clear day you can see the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, The Twelve Pins and the Maum Turk Mountains from the Cliffs. A visit to the Cliffs of Moher is a must (in my humble opinion) if you’re looking to be amazed by something spectacular right on your doorstep. Even the drive to the Cliffs is pretty amazing!

3. The Giants Causeway

The Giant’s Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. It is located in County Antrim on the north coast of Northern Ireland and attracts thousands of visitors each year. It’s amazing to look at and even more fascinating to wander along the columns and enjoy the sea air. While you’re there check out the Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge just down the road.. but maybe not if you’re afraid of heights!

4. The Burren

The Burren is a karst  landscape stretching across northern Co. Clare. Be amazed by the naturally formed limestone pavements and check out the flora and fauna which can only be found here! It’s fairly wild and wonderful out there but it’s a sight not to be missed. You can find beautiful villages with plenty of craft shops and cafes to keep you busy. For people who enjoy a good walk, hike or cycle there’s plenty of areas around the Burren to enjoy these activities too.

5. The Aran Islands

Located just off Galway and Doolin, the Aran Islands are perfect for a break away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. These 3 islands are untouched and are full with Irish tradition and culture. Each of the Islands, Inis Oírr, Inis Meain and the largest Inis Mór has its own individual character and you’ll hear many of the locals speaking Irish. You’ll find ancient forts, churches and monuments on all 3 Islands and if you like biking and adventuring then this is the area for you! Enjoy!

So, you don’t have to travel too far to enjoy some truly amazing sights and experiences. Get the family or a group of friends together and pop these five top places in Ireland on your 2018 bucket list!
